My friend M.A.H is an interior designer who lives not far away from her. She built her design studio on a two inch concrete slab with the rest of the building consisting of corrugated metal sheets with insulation sandwiched between them. Very inexpensive and a great example of how sometimes imagination and daring can result in original outcomes

Tonight I saw the movie Volvér by Almodovar which left me very impressed. As I was driving home right on the intersection of the main freeway leaving Tel Aviv ( Einstein street in Ramat Aviv), I saw this huge photograph. It made me think that what it tries to create is a fabricated reality, much like the one I saw in the movie theatre. Then I thought, how does this scene with its cultural message relate to the IDF soldiers still in Lebanon. An inherent dichotomy.

Looking at these photographs from the deserted Jordanian army barracks at Kalia on the shore of the dead sea, I realized how these photographs connects to the theme of Void that I keep coming back to. In the last photograph, the military gear belongs to IDF Dovdevan (Cherry) commando unit that was practicing there when we came to this location in February 2006.
